Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, share, and protect personal information — and the choices you have.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Nortshere ("we", "us") handles personal information of learners and parents, educators and contributors, business clients, and visitors to our website. It applies to our website and services that link to it.

2. Information we collect

  • Information you provide: name, email, and message details when you contact us or apply for a role; account and profile details; payment information processed by our payment providers.
  • Educator/contributor information: qualifications, work history, assessment results, task submissions, and quality metrics.
  • Learner information: subjects, session content, and notes needed to deliver tutoring. Institutions may provide limited student information under their agreements with us.
  • Client & project data: data you provide for evaluation, annotation, or research, handled under your agreement and applicable confidentiality terms.
  • Automatically collected: device, browser, IP address, and usage data collected through cookies and similar technologies.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Services;
  • Match learners with tutors and contributors with projects;
  • Process payments and maintain records;
  • Communicate with you, including support and service updates;
  • Maintain quality, safety, security, and integrity;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the bases of performance of a contract, our legitimate interests (such as operating and securing the Services), your consent (where requested, for example for certain cookies or marketing), and compliance with legal obligations.

5. How we share information

  • Service providers who help us operate (e.g., hosting on Google Cloud/Firebase, payment processing, analytics), under appropriate confidentiality and data-processing terms;
  • Clients and partners only as necessary to deliver a project and as described to you;
  • Legal and safety reasons, where required by law or to protect rights and safety;
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Cookies & analytics

We use necessary cookies to run the site and, with your consent where required, analytics cookies to understand usage and improve the experience. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect functionality.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and context; project data is retained according to the relevant client agreement.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk — including encryption in transit, access controls, and confidentiality obligations — aligned with frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, and FERPA. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Your rights & choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email info@nortshere.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

10. Children's & student privacy

Tutoring may be provided to minors through parents, guardians, or institutions. Where we handle student data on behalf of a school, we act as a service provider/processor and use that data only to provide the Services, consistent with applicable laws such as FERPA and COPPA. We do not knowingly collect data from children except as permitted with appropriate consent.

11. International transfers

We operate globally, so your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for international transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
